The development of drug delivery systems is a rapidly growing area of research due to the need for efficient and targeted drug delivery to improve the efficacy of therapies.
Hybrid microparticles are one such promising drug delivery system that offers a number of advantages, such as high surface area-to-volume ratio, controlled drug release, and biocompatibility.
In this study, we report the synthesis and characterization of hybrid microparticles based on sol-gel cross-linked vegetable oils for the delivery of therapeutic molecules.
Materials and Methods:
The hybrid microparticles were synthesized using a sol-gel cross-linking method with vegetable oils as precursors.
The characterization of the microparticles was done using SEM and BET surface area analysis.
The release of therapeutic molecules from the microparticles was evaluated in vitro using UV-vis spectrophotometry.
The cytotoxicity of the hybrid microparticles was assessed using MTT assay in vitro.
In vivo biodistribution studies were carried out in a relevant animal model.
The synthesized hybrid microparticles were characterized using SEM and BET surface area analysis, which revealed that they had a uniform size distribution and high surface area.
The release of therapeutic molecules from the microparticles was evaluated, and the results showed that the release of the therapeutic molecules was sustained over a period of time.
The cytotoxicity of the hybrid microparticles was assessed in vitro, and the results showed that they were biocompatible and did not exhibit any significant cytotoxic effects on the cells.
In vivo biodistribution studies were carried out, and the results showed that the hybrid microparticles were able to accumulate in the target tissue.
In conclusion, the hybrid microparticles based on sol-gel cross-linked vegetable oils have shown potential for use as an effective drug delivery system for therapeutic molecules.
The microparticles exhibited good biocompatibility and sustained drug release, and were able to accumulate in the target tissue.
Further studies are required to optimize the formulation of the hybrid microparticles and to evaluate thei
